Decor: We did all black and white decorations. Super easy. White balloons with black cut out mustaches taped on. Used large trash bags and cut giant mustaches out of them and put them all over the walls. We used a lot of white and black crepe paper as well. We also stuck mustaches all over every picture we could find :) We also printed out large posters that said things like "Stash Bash" or "We love" and then a clip art pic of a mustache.
Snacks: Drinks with mustache straws, heart sugar cookies with mustaches.
S-T-A-S-H: BINGO only STASH! I went to print-bingo.com to generate my custom bingo cards! Then, to top it off I created a jpg. sheet with a ton of little mustaches (is there a plural for mustache like mustachi?! Anyways...) and then cut them all out (took FOREVER) to use as the bingo chips. Next time, I would plan ahead and purchase mustache candy to use instead! Lesson learned. SIDE NOTE: don't let someone with A.D.D. design the pieces to this game :)
Pin the Mustache on the Pastor: Quite possibly my favorite simply because I love giggling at the pictures! I cut pieces of fur found at the craft store into mustache shapes. Kids were given a mustache blindfold (YES, THEY DO EXIST!) and each mustache used a piece of poster putty. From there, you know the drill! Our youth pastor ended up with a unibrow which, may have been one of the highlights of my night.
Head Banger: I simply love this game because, again I get to laugh at the ones playing it! The great thing is that I can use it in almost any themed event. Take a sweatband (think 80s aerobics video) and attach a pedometer to it. Put a stick on mustache on the contestant, start the timer and see who can log the most "steps" in your timed amount. Kids jump, shake their heads, etc. It's a good time...all with a silly mustache. (NOTE: one player represents their team for this game, it would be madness to let them all play)
STASH wind: We decorated foam plates with a mustache and googly eyes. Players had another paper plate that they used to create "wind." The objective was to move their plate from start to finish the fastest using only the wind they generated. The plates can't touch.
Photo Booth Fun: Awesome way to use a photo booth. Kids loved striking fun poses using the fun mustache props.
The Take-a-Way: Using sticky mustaches on my fingers (one on the inside (right inside) of my index finger, middle, and third fingers I talked about how Jesus has called us to love everyone. I used the mustaches to talk about different "types" of people that we have trouble loving. Example: the bully in your class who seems to enjoy picking on you. Or, the (second finger) kid in your class who constantly makes fun of you or says mean things.
Using a triangle, we illustrated that if God were the top of our triangle, the only way we really can learn to love others (we are the bottom point right and others are the other bottom point left) is if we are working on loving God more. As we get closer to God, He shows us how to love others even if they seem unloveable. (see pics if this is confusing :)
