Kids were encouraged to come dressed in Duct Tape things they'd made ahead of time in order to receive a prize.
Here are a few of the fun games we played:
Duct Tape prize ball. We loaded a giant ball of tape with fun prizes. Kids pass the ball around hot potato style as music is played. When the music stops the kid holding the tape gets to unroll a layer of tape. If he's gotten a layer that has a prize in it, it's his to keep.
Table Surfing: each team chose a member to tape to a table. They were given five minutes to do this. We then tipped the tables onto their sides. The team with the player that lasted the longest was the winner. Boys especially loved this one!
Duct Tape Roll Over: choose one player, wrap them sticky side out with the tape. We then threw a pack of playing cards onto the floor and the players were given one minute to roll around and pick up as many as they could by just rolling (arms taped down too). One of the most fun parts of this game came when players realized they were going to have trouble getting to the ground!
Duct Tape Server: grab a few paper plates and cover them in some fun Duct Tape. Stack empty tape rolls on the plate in a tower. The plate is placed on the head of a player and a relay race is run.
Scripture That Sticks: each team was given some tape and a scripture (2 Cor 5:7) and asked to illustrate the verse using the tape. The kids got super creative and it was neat to see them working together.
Tape Tug: teams chose players to square off in a sort of tug of war competition. Tape was taken ahead of time and braided into a 3 ft long rope. Players get one end and bend at the knees remaining on their feet. The first to pull the opponent down (as they lose balance) is the winner.
Sticky Faith: we talked about how our faith needs to be sticky. We compared the strength of a sticky note, Scotch tape, and Duct Tape. Sometimes when things go wrong in our lives, we're tempted to exhibit a sticky note type of faith and walk away from our relationship with Christ. We want to give up. God wants us to have a faith that is like Duct Tape. It can withstand all sorts of pressure.
