Growing up I always thought Valentines Day was a day for couples. If you think about the fact that it's really about love, there's no better day to show someone else the love of Jesus!
The kids decorate the table with a Valentines theme. On the table we make hearts with Bible verses written on them that we scatter around.
For dinner we make heart shaped individual meatloaves, pink mashed potatoes, and other fun themed food!
This annual event has proven to be one of the things our kids look forward to each year. It teaches them about serving other people and to consider the needs of someone who might otherwise be left out. It also teaches them how to throw a party!
Can you think of another holiday that you could use as a way to teach your kids about ministering to others?
