I've Got To Tell Them-Why Ministry Matters

I began to think about the kids who come through my ministry who need to hear those words but never do. That's why ministry matters.

My one year old received a toy dog for Christmas. It's one of those that talks incessantly and threatens to mock your sanity as your child repeatedly pushes the same button over and over.

It sings the alphabet, Head and Shoulders, and many other annoying songs. It also says things like "you're wonderful" and "you're my friend."

I began to think about the kids who come through my ministry who need to hear those words but never do. That's why ministry matters.

For those kids who are never told they are wonderful......how will they know how wonderful their Creator thinks they are? I've got to tell them.

For those kids who are told that they're valuable....how will they know how they're valued in the eyes of the Lord? I've got to tell them.

For those kids who will never know the love of an earthly father.....how will they know that their Heavenly Father longs to be in relationship with them? I've got to tell them.

For those kids who will never know what friendship and healthy relationships look like....how will they know that God designed us to be in relationship with each other within His community? I've got to tell them.

There are many who will enter our ministries who will never know.....unless we tell them. They don't need stuffed animals that spout off pre-recorded messages. They need real life people who are there waiting for them to arrive and will tell them the life changing news of Jesus because He think they're wonderful and He wants to be their friend.

What message does a child in your ministry need to hear from you because, otherwise, they may never hear it?

I'm a children's pastor who is doing what I know I was designed to do. I love to encourage others who are in ministry.  The things you'll read on here are the things I'd share with you over a cup of coffee as we swap ideas and share the victories and frustrations of ministry.

I am the Children's Pastor at the Anderson First Church of the Nazarene. The views and opinions expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Anderson First Church.
