Put away the construction paper and markers. This is your year to shake it up. Yeh, the flower pots are cute, the mugs are great, and of course the chocolate is always awesome but what if you decided to focus this year upon how you could better resource the moms in your ministry instead of worrying about the crafts you'll make to give to mom?
Change it up.....Offer all women a resource...perhaps a new devotional guide. What moms really need are to fall in love with Jesus. How can we better assist them in that area?
Change it up.....Have kids in your ministry memorize scripture that will stick with them forever. What a gift for mom! There's no greater joy I have as a mom than knowing my kids are hiding the Word in their hearts.
Change it up....Include the kids in your main service and have a large prayer gathering for the women present in the service. Pray that God would help them to grow even more in love with Him over the coming year.
Change it up....Invite moms & grandmas to Sunday School on Sunday. Give moms & grandmas the leadership role during class. Break into small "family" groups and provide opportunities for moms& grandmas to share their own faith journey, favorite bible verse, etc. Many times parents and grandparents have no idea where to begin when it comes to a faith discussion. Providing them with a "script" of sorts will give them confidence to carry on what you started that day in Sunday School. Celebrate moms & grandmas with donuts and some great faith discussions.
Change it up....Teach kids about compassion during Mother's Day. Spend time praying for those who have lost moms, who have empty arms, or who have prodigal children.
How about you? What will your #kidmin #fammin do this year to observe Mother's Day? Change it up!
